Water Polo Referee Companion

Water Polo Referee Companion keeps your eyes on the water. Paired with a Water Polo Board, it follows the game clock, shot clock, and score, and speaks short cues to your earpiece at the moments that matter, so you never have to look away from the play to check the clocks or scoreboard. And before the game, it measures the course: the phone marks where every cone goes.

What it tells you

Short spoken cues at the moments that matter: the shot clock resetting, five seconds left on it, ten seconds left in the period, the score after it changes, and more. Each one is a few words, and each can be turned on or off on its own.

Measure the course with your phone

The course marks (2 m, 5 m, 6 m, and the center) have to go down on the deck before every game, and there has never been good tooling for it: stepping it out is guesswork, and a tape across a pool deck is a chore. The Course tab turns the phone into the measuring tool: anchor the goal line at the deck edge, walk the sideline, and virtual cones appear on screen at the exact spots the real ones go, on the course line drawn in rule colors.

Modes cover a single end, the entire sideline with the center derived for you, the goal line with 2 m marked from each actual post, and the whole pool perimeter. The measured lengths are shown as you go. It works at any pool, with no Water Polo Board and no setup: just the phone.

How you hear it

Cues play through your phone’s headphones or a Bluetooth headset, the kind many referees already wear on deck. They reach you even with your phone in a pocket. Verified to work with popular water polo referee radios (EJEAS V4C).*

What you need

For the cues: a paired Water Polo Board at a pool with a compatible scoreboard, and wired or Bluetooth headphones.
For course measuring: an iPhone or iPad, and nothing else.

It speaks only to you. It is not a two-way radio and does not connect referees to one another.
